Do you want to become more active in the fight for racial justice?

Join us!

In the United States and around the world, there are widespread, unprecedented demands for racial justice. SURJ DC has hosted reading/action groups to build our antiracist community. For 7+ years, SURJ DC has hosted Reading/Action Groups. These small group discussions allow for skill-building around taking antiracist action in workplaces, neighborhoods, schools, and families. The groups are an important way to bring more people into SURJ DC’s work, and to support folks interested in dismantling white supremacy, one conversation at a time.

Call for
Reading/Action Group Facilitators

The Reading/Action Group Planning Team is recruiting facilitators now for this fall.

Are you interested in Facilitating?

SURJ DC is seeking reading/action group facilitators for groups starting October 2023. We are looking for volunteers to lead small discussion groups focused on dismantling white supremacy and promoting racial justice. Volunteers will be facilitating a space for people to be vulnerable, say the wrong thing, be in discomfort, learn and unlearn; a space that creates a community of belonging and connection; a space that ignites a willingness to take antiracist action.

No facilitation experience is necessary. Facilitators will be trained and supported by the reading/action group planning team.

Call for
Reading/Action Group Participants

SURJ DC is seeking reading/action group participants for groups starting October 2023.

These groups are where (primarily) white people can learn, acquire antiracist skills, and develop the capacity and courage to identify and confront racism in themselves, others, and institutions, with the goal of meaningfully contributing to dismantling white supremacy. We are looking for people to participate in groups focused on promoting racial justice. You will be led by trained facilitators in a space where you can be vulnerable, say the wrong thing, learn and unlearn; a space that creates a community of belonging and connection; a space that ignites a willingness to take antiracist action.
